What Our Customers Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our services and the region.
Is the river difficult?
The Dordogne River is classified as Class 1. This means it couldn’t be easier. All routes offered by the Canoë Dordogne team departing from Vitrac are accessible to all ages.
From what age can we go canoeing?
French regulations prohibit canoe rental to individuals under 5 years old.
What are the best routes?
If we had to choose the best section, many locals would tell you to start from Vitrac and go to Beynac. The Valley of the 5 Castles. It’s impossible not to love it when starting from Vitrac.
Where can I park and how do I get back to my car?
All departures are from the Vitrac base. You park your car in our free parking lot, and we take care of the rest.
For your information, we have return shuttles every hour at the arrival points to take you back to your car.
Can I take my time on the route?
You have as much time as you want, as long as you arrive before the last return shuttle. This gives you time to visit villages like La Roque Gageac, for example.
Can my dog go canoeing with me?
Of course, dogs are welcome to join us.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing, perhaps a swimsuit if you want to take a dip in the river.
If I book online, can I cancel and get a refund?
Any cancellation is not eligible for a refund request. We generally offer credit notes.
What is the difference between a canoe and a kayak?
The difference between a canoe and a kayak is that a canoe is wider, more stable, and more comfortable in terms of seating because you are seated like in a chair with a backrest.
For kayaks, it’s a bit more athletic, more maneuverable, and you sit with your legs extended.
