For many years, we have been welcoming vacationers to the banks of the Dordogne in Vitrac, just a few minutes from Sarlat. More than just a water sports center, Canoë Dordogne is a family business rooted in the region, born from a simple passion: to help people discover the river differently, in its most beautiful and authentic form.
Here, the Dordogne isn’t just something you look at from a viewpoint. You live it and cross it to the rhythm of the water and the sound of laughter.
Our canoe base is located at the Pont de Vitrac, in one of the most beautiful sections of the valley. A strategic starting point for exploring the iconic landscapes of the Périgord Noir and paddling past some of the most remarkable villages and castles in France.

Choosing Canoë Dordogne means choosing a prime location. From our base, you have direct access to routes renowned for their beauty and accessibility.
The Dordogne River, classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, winds here between cliffs, pebble beaches, and forests. At every bend, a new backdrop awaits you.
By descending the Dordogne in a canoe or kayak, you enjoy a unique perspective on world-famous sites. But seen from the river, they take on an even more spectacular dimension.
Among other things, you can see the Castles of Beynac or Castelnaud which dominate the valley. You’ll also spot the village of La Roque-Gageac clinging to the cliff or the Bastide of Domme.

No prior experience is necessary. Before you set off, we take the time to explain the basics: paddle handling, safety instructions, and simple current reading. In just a few minutes, you’re ready to board.
Intermediate routes – The perfect balance
These itineraries are our most popular. They allow you to discover the valley’s most beautiful landscapes while maintaining a pleasant pace. Allow half a day to a full day depending on your speed and breaks.
It’s often on these routes that vacationers create their best memories of canoeing in the Dordogne: a picnic on a wild beach, an impromptu swim, or a photo at the foot of a castle.
Long treks – To take your time
For those who want to extend the experience, we offer full-day or multi-day descents. Total immersion along the Dordogne, far from the noise and the roads.
